Update: Power Outages Reported in East Meadow

Additional outages reported; restoration now expected at 11 p.m.

Update 8:05 p.m.LIPA reporting outages are back up, now at 72 households in East Meadow as of 8 p.m. Restoration expected at 11 p.m.

: LIPA reporting 10 households in East Meadow are still without power as of 7 p.m. Restoration has been delayed two hours, expected at 8:30 p.m.

Original posted at 4:35 p.m.: As Long Island braces for wet and windy weather, more than 65 households in East Meadow are already without power, according to the Long Island Power Authority's (LIPA) outage map.

A total of 71 outages have been reported as of 4:30 p.m. Crews have been assigned to the affected areas, with expected restoration by 6:30 p.m. Monday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for both Nassau and Suffolk counties until 10 p.m. this evening. Possible thunder and lightning, as well as winds gusting up to 38 miles per hour, are expected Monday evening.
