East Meadow Resident Named Syracuse Scholar Athlete of the Week

Anghel, a four-year starter in goal, has posted two shutouts and has a 1.29 goals against average this season for the Orange.

East Meadow resident Brittany Anghel, the goalie for Syracuse Women's Soccer, was named the Scholar Athlete of the week.

Anghel, a four-year starter in goal, has posted two shutouts and has a 1.29 goals against average this season. During her Syracuse career, she has racked up numerous honors including BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and First-Team recognition in 2012 and BIG EAST All-Rookie Team honors in 2010.

Anghel's fourth win this season marked the 25th of her career, which is first all-time in program history. Entering the season, Anghel ranked third in career saves and goals against average at SU.

She has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in all of her semesters at Syracuse. Anghel is majoring in health and exercise science in the School of Education.
