East Meadow Students Named Finalists in Siemens Challenge

Students were recognized for their project on aquaculture as a solution to overfishing on Long Island.

East Meadow middle school students were named finalists in The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge on Monday. The "Fishful Thinking Team," a group of East Meadow sixth graders from the district's  Metamorphosis Program, were recognized for their project on aquaculture as a solution to overfishing on Long Island.

The Metamorphosis Program allows students to begin to explore topics of more personal interest using the research process. Their investigations may be in science, mathematics, the humanities or the arts.

The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge is a national effort encouraging students to create solutions to local and global environmental problems.
