East Meadow Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

Marijuana and MDMA were found, along with a vaporizer, cops said.

A routine pull-over by police turned into a drug arrest Monday after a Freeport man was allegedly in possession of drugs and a vaporizer, cops said.

According to detectives, at 9:40 p.m., Third Precinct plain-clothes officers were on patrol in an unmarked vehicle when they saw David A. Rodriguez, 34, of Freeport, driving southbound on Franklin Avenue. After he allegedly failed to signal while turning left on Roosevelt Avenue, cops pulled him over.

Cops said they discovered a plastic jar of what appears to be marijuana in the car's cup holder, along with a vaporizer. After an investigation, three plastic bags containing methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) were also found, police said. Rodriguez was arrested without incident.

Rodriguez has been charged with one count of second, third and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and his arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
