East Meadow Dancer Directs Burlesque Show

Liz DeGennaro, owner of Wild Cherryz Dance and Fitness Studio has a directed and produced "Arcana Lace, " a burlesque show that will premiere this month.

"Doing this has been a love of mine," she said while watching dancers rehearse in her fitness studio. "I am bringing all of my ideas to life and it's a dream come true."

"Arcana Lace" is about a girl in the 1930s trying to break away from her dark past.

"I want to create a show that gives people a place to escape their daily stresses and embark on a journey with us through a certain period in time," DeGennaro said.

The show will include five dancers, a singer, a drummer and a pianist.

As well as directing and producing the show, DeGennaro also created the costumes that will appear in the production.  She said that "Arcana Lace" will be the biggest show that she has directed in her career.

DeGennaro said that the show teaches an important lesson.

"Even though you have a dark past you can always get past it," she said. "You can always have a bright future."

"Arcana Lace" will premiere at The Cutting Room in New York City on May 31.
