Modernized Medical Library Reopens at NUMC

Following $700,000 in renovations and upgrades, officials cut the ribbon Friday.

Following a $700,000 renovation, one of Long Island's largest medical libraries reopened in East Meadow Friday.

NuHealth celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Nassau University Medical Center.

With funding provided by the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, a subsidiary of DeVry Education Group, the upgrades bring the Dr. Peter Addiego Health Sciences Library up to current technological and interior design standards.

The original library was constructed in the late 1960s/early 1970s.

The two-floor, 12,000 square foot library supports patient care, biomedical research and the medical education needs of hundreds of residents, faculty and students.

Hospital officials state it is an "information resource for professionals in all aspects of health care, providing for changing research needs and for new healthcare technology in order to be current with the accreditation environment, with conference rooms equipped with interactive white boards, video conferencing and distance learning capabilities."
