EM Contractor Finalist for 'Tradesperson of the Year'

Kevin Wrynn among six finalists from across the country chosen by a panel of judges in the annual search.

East Meadow resident Kevin Wrynn has been named a finalist in Rebuilding Together's nationwide search for "Tradesperson of the Year."

Rebuilding Together's mission is to bring volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners.

Wrynn, of Kevin Wrynn Carpentry, is a full-time contractor and active member of NARI NY/LI. He recently remodeled a home damaged by Superstorm Sandy for a family and their son, recently diagnosed with leukemia.

“Rebuilding Together’s Tradesperson of the Year is our opportunity to recognize and honor the hardworking men and women in the skilled trades industry; all too often the unsung heroes of our neighborhoods and communities,” said Janice Daue Walker, Rebuilding Together’s vice president of marketing and communications.

“We are proud to work with our partners to give back and rightly recognize the men and women who excel at their trade and use it to improve their community.”

According to the organization, "Tradesperson of the Year" is someone who gives back to the community (either through their local Rebuilding Together affiliate or with another charitable organization), is a valued member of his or her skilled trade industry and reflects the Rebuilding Together values of selflessness and dedication to serving others.

A panel of judges chose Wrynn and five other finalists from across the country in the annual search. The five other finalists are Nicholas Riley from MA; Mark Egner from WA; Mark Elliott from CA; Bill Hutson from IN; and Darrel Gooler from CA.

The grand prize winner will receive a Super Bowl XLVIII getaway for two to the 2014 Super Bowl in New York, in addition to prizes and products from sponsors.

The winner will be announced Oct. 17 at the Remodeling Show and Deck Expo in Chicago. HGTV and DIY Network host Chris Grundy, along with nationally recognized home improvement experts Mark and Theresa Clement from the MyFixitUpLife talk show, will announce the winner.
