Dick Goodman: A journalist, PR consultant, copy writer, columnist and local politician, or public servant, depending on your perspective. It’s been a career that&#39;s spanned more than four decades of time and of technology ranging from Remington manual typewriters to PCs and iPads. Through it I’ve taken time out from crafting messages for paying clients to expressing my views on the serious and absurd around me---matters trivial and tragic. The results have appeared in major newspapers as letters to the editor, op-eds and columns. My humor columns appeared regularly in <i>Miami Today</i> for more than two decades, winning a prestigious National Newspaper Association award for humor in 2007. In 2009 I became a regular Community Voices columnist for the <i>Atlanta Journal Constitution</i>, a gig that lasted until I was elected to public office, at which point the serious and absurd merged.
