Mom Gets Jail Time for Stalking Little League Official

Janet Chiauzzi will also need to serve five years probation, the Nassau County District Attorney's office confirmed.

An East Meadow woman was sentenced to 60 days in jail and five years probation Tuesday for stalking and harassment after she wrote a series of threatening letters to an East Meadow Little League official last year due to her son not being chosen for a local travel team. According to police, on May 21, 2011, Janet Chiauzzi, 45, allegedly sent letters "of a threatening nature" to an East Meadow Little League official and his son. Police said the letter also made threats against the victim's wife and daughter. Do you think the punishment was enough? "Sentenced to 60 days in jail and five years probation" As long as she has no prior type of history, I truly want to believe that she is sorry. She is now paying for her inconceivable actions. This is certainly not the first time an incident involving a parent, their child and a sports team. Hopefully she has learned a lessen. An East Meadow woman was arrested Saturday for stalking and harassment after her son failed to make an East Meadow Little League travel team, according to Third Precinct officials. According to police, on May 21 Janet Chiauzzi, 44, allegedly sent letters "of a threatening nature" to an East Meadow Little League official and his son. Susan Weiss, a victim of Robert Zafonte's outrageous accusations, knows what it feels like for someone to make false claims to seek revenge.

While many continue to react at the nature of the letters allegedly written by Janet Chiauzzi that falsely accused a coach of beating his children because her son did not make the baseball travel team, one East Meadow resident knows the feeling of being a victim all too well. Susan Weiss was a target of Robert Zafonte, the former leader of the East Meadow Civic Association who spent four months in prison for "writing several letters to government agencies that contained knowingly false information about people he felt had wronged him," according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. According to police, on May 21, Janet Chiauzzi, 44, allegedy sent letters "of a threatening nature" to an East Meadow Little League official and his son. Police said the letter also made threats against the victim's wife and daughter.
