Reflecting on the Pain of False Allegations
Susan Weiss, a victim of Robert Zafonte's outrageous accusations, knows what it feels like for someone to make false claims to seek revenge.
While many continue to react at the nature of the letters allegedly written by Janet Chiauzzi that falsely accused a coach of beating his children because her son did not make the baseball travel team, one East Meadow resident knows the feeling of being a victim all too well. Susan Weiss was a target of Robert Zafonte, the former leader of the East Meadow Civic Association who spent four months in prison for "writing several letters to government agencies that contained knowingly false information about people he felt had wronged him," according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. Woman Arrested for Stalking, Harassment After Son Fails to Make Travel Team
Janet Chiauzzi allegedly wrote threatening letters and made false accusations against an East Meadow Little League official.
An East Meadow woman was arrested Saturday for stalking and harassment after her son failed to make an East Meadow Little League travel team, according to third precinct officials. According to police, on May 21, Janet Chiauzzi, 44, allegedy sent letters "of a threatening nature" to an East Meadow Little League official and his son. Police said the letter also made threats against the victim's wife and daughter. On June 1, the principal of the school where the victim's children attended received a letter claiming the victim was abusing his kids, which Nassau County Child Protective Services investigated and "deemed unfounded," police said.
