Awesome idea to bring Jay-Z in. Nassau can be the hip-hop/rap capitol of New York. Every weekRead More another rap concert. Perfect for East Meadow and the surrounding areas.

The main attraction is going to Brooklyn. This is a colossal boondoggle. Thanks Kate Murray and theRead More ToH. You fat pig!

Yes this is super excellent. Bring on the real teams from the greatest place in the world NEW YORKRead More CITY..... YES..... You Long Islanders have a lot to learn...
Amy May 2, 2013 at 09:24 pm
If this will help the economy, and bring jobs to Long Island I think its an excellent idea.

I say build it...

Correction: Town or county lets things go to waste...
Rebecca April 6, 2013 at 04:22 am
Much as I can't stand Kate Murray, this is not a Town issue. It's County property. I could careRead More less about soccer, but if these folks want to pay our County hundreds of thousands of $$ over the next few years, by all means!
paul April 11, 2013 at 12:26 am
Thank you Jaime. This is a great information... Folks should take advantage of this...

Krause!! I agree with you on this one!!! Well said!!!
marianne krause March 27, 2013 at 04:35 pm
Here's a silly thought how about the players? you know the ones who committed the "crimes"Read More since they are aduIts as to stop somewhere we have to stop blaming others for our childrens bad behavior .
Sal Anthony March 27, 2013 at 09:18 am
Should teachers be held responsible for the kids they attempt to educate when they commit crimes? IRead More dont think so but our society just keep pushing the blame on other people and not the low life CRIMINAL!!!. What a shame we have become. Good luck coach we are gonna miss ya!!!
P. Trebendis February 19, 2013 at 05:50 pm
Congrats to all. Special mention to The Hogan family. Nice going \o/.......
Anthony Balducci February 6, 2013 at 02:54 am
If you can't afford the team, sell it! Plenty of people out there that would put their own moneyRead More INTO the Mets and return class to the club.
Frank T February 5, 2013 at 09:45 pm
Really desperate idea by the Wilpon's. They should have sold the Mets but they are pigs. TheyRead More gambled and lost with Madoff and they continue to ruin the Mets franchise and devalue the team.
Robert Demarco February 5, 2013 at 09:18 pm
The Mets are my team, but the Wilpons are clowns. I wish that they would sell the team to someoneRead More who is poroperly capitalized and interested in winning. The casino thing is a bad idea.
paul February 3, 2013 at 03:19 pm
Just watch at home..... ;o)
Steve Greenberg February 3, 2013 at 03:50 am
Watch the Super Bowl at The Nest on east meadow ave!
Chris Wendt February 2, 2013 at 11:47 am
I reject the premise that "...a majority of Nassau County fans supported the Jets...."Read More This is based on the number of people who "like" a team, any team, on Facebook, which according to the article is only 10% of Facebook subscribers. I was formerly a Jets fan back from when they started out at Shea Stadium. I had met Joe Namath, had a cup of coffee with him back in the day, just the two of us. I was immensely proud of the New York Sack Exchange, back in the day. But those days, as well as the Jets themselves, are all gone now. Rex Ryan is not someone who could inspire me as a fan; he's more of a punch line to laugh at now and again. Today I am a Giants fan, but I could watch a Superbowl without the Giants playing, if the Redskins or the Packers were in it. Okay, or the Steelers, if only that would ever happen again.
Lorraine DeVita February 1, 2013 at 09:27 pm
Highest taxes and the Jets - Can't get any worse (unless you are also a METS fan). Talk aboutRead More gluttons for punishment.. GO GANG GREEN.. (eventualy)

Debbie January 30, 2013 at 12:05 pm
Congrats ! Love them such a wonderful family ! :)
Robert Demarco April 2, 2013 at 08:02 pm
Its very simple: if Wang used his money to build the Lighthouse Project, Kate Murray and the rest ofRead More her party cohorts would not be able to control the jobs, patronage, contracts, etc. That is all that matters to them; the taxpayers they allegedly represent do not count and do not have a voice.
JoeMags April 2, 2013 at 07:35 pm
Wasn't there an owner of an NHL team that wanted to use his own funds to rehab the colesium a fewRead More years back that was told NO!. My how things have changed in Nassau County....glad I live in Suffolk!
Nick March 24, 2013 at 03:37 pm
Wow you guys are really angry about this. Okay fine we won't do it then. Haha jk. If you don't likeRead More it then leave.

I saw an ad for an upcoming monster truck show at the Coliseum. I hope they can bring in aRead More demolition derby too.
Nassau Taxpayer January 11, 2013 at 06:36 pm
Sure. Circle the money yet, Mr. Monti? "Monti says the high-tech offices would be linked to aRead More 92-acre residential, retail and commercial development by light rail or a special bus route. Monti says the plan would cost between $2 billion..." And be sure to fund any needed public service improvements.
sadeto January 11, 2013 at 06:06 pm
Another proposal to develop the Coliseum site; how long will it take for this idea to get shot downRead More by the TOH? http://longisland.news12.com/news/report-proposal-to-make-coliseum-a-biotech-campus-1.4435067?qr=1

@Matthew Hogan: I seem to be missing something here. Mangano announced plans toRead More “reinvent” the Nassau Coliseum by bringing in Forest City Ratner Companies, the same developer responsible for Barclay’s Center. This is "to help transform the venue into becoming what the county described as ‘an attractive, state-of-the-art destination for sports & entertainment.’ " Really? Mangano is doing this NOW, AFTER Wang’s hand was forced by the TOH & Nassau County & was left with no choice but to move? Why now? Why couldn’t this have been considered BEFORE Wang was left with no option but to move? How is that going to be paid for? And how would the manner in which this is to be paid for now be any different vs. how such a course of action would have been funded with the Isles kept in place in Uniondale? I don’t get it. I would really like to see the media ensure making it a point to highlight this valid & legitimate aspect in order for this to be addressed as it should be & not glossed over, minimized, trivialized & conveniently brushed under the rug. This just seems to perpetuate the perception of the pols being short-sighted baffoons trying to cover their a$$ in vain. Yet more of the same nonsense from the same inept, dysfunctional gov’t officials being paid by the taxpayer. Mind boggling & unbelievable. Pathetic. And unconscionable that they even have the temerity to act as though they are not complicit or culpable, as if they have done nothing wrong. A-WH()Le$

I would like to see Kate Murray at the home opener to drop the first puck. I don't mean aRead More ceremonial puck drop from a red carpet, I mean I would like to see her at center ice dropping the puck for the game starting faceoff and then trying to get off the ice in one (very big) piece!
