If the budget is only going up by 1.83 percent why is the tax rate going up by 2.49 percent ($131Read More million)? With increased state aid it should be going down. I think the BOE should take some accounting classes and get rid of the mirrors.

Where is the other half of the story? No kids names? Not even the name of the school (I'm assumingRead More it's Woodland) or the teacher who worked with these students. Congrats to them but they deserve to be recognized and not just in a photo.

Someone should also let Ms. Paul know that the "New York State Board of Education" willRead More never get her message. They don't exist. If you are going to "send a message" to the system, it might be helpful for you to understand who needs to receive the message. Start with Ken Slentz Deputy Commissioner of P-12 Education, then move up the food chain to Liz Berlin, Executive Deputy Commissioner, then Commissioner John King. We have a strange system here, the Commissioner of the SED does not answer to the Governor. They answer to the Board of Regents, Roger Tilles (another private education person, LIU) is the Regent for Nassau and Suffolk.

The children of the person that heads education in NYS did not take the test. They go to privateRead More school. He does not teach and doesn't think his kids need the test. HE HAS TO GO.

Since I was called out by name I feel compelled to respond. The reason that 3/4/5 question was theRead More same is exactly what you think. Pearson is motivated by profit so why write 3 questions when you can use some iteration of one question. This is about Private School elitist people like John King and Andy Cuomo doing whatever they can to privatize public education. Ask Commissioner King how his kids did on the test, they didi not take it at their Montessori School. My point was I think it is right for us as parents (my kid took the test too) to be angry about the automation of our children, the more disturbing part is the profit motivation of the 'leaders' of this process.
