Yesterday, Nassau County paid farewell to one of its finest. By all accounts, Highway Patrolman…Read More Joseph Olivieri was a cop's cop who made his family, his friends and his beloved department proud. All to often in today's fast past world we loose sight of the dedicated, tireless and vigilant service preformed by Nassau County's Finest. All to often the inherent dangers of the job surface and there are times when even one of the Finest falls. Let us remember this good mans sacrifice and for his commitment to put the safety and security of others first. Rest in peace Officer Olivieri. May God Bless you and provide comfort to all those suffering by your passing.

Don't you conspiracy theorists think that a cops kid (Mr.Ryan) would be the one avioiding…Read More prosecution if all these scary theories you say are true???????? Did you miss that in the article?? I do agree--the Escalade should be looked into--but how do you know it wasn't????
Leave the law to the professionals. The lawyers make it entertaining enough. A police officer was killed performing his duties. I can promise you any and every avenue was checked and double checked, especially because of an officers death.

Yes this absolutely REEKS of politics and cover up.
Did the driver of the Cadillac escalade give a…Read More blood sample?? Why not?? They killed a police officer after all.
Oh wait, I forgot, there was someone in the vicinity with a BAC of .09
An easy target for political gain. An easy scapegoat to get the connected Cadillac driver off the hook.
Maybe a fundraiser for mr Ryan's defense is in order.
We can't allow witch hunters to prevail. Not in the 21st century.
And a special investigation should be conducted to determine why the Cadillac Escalade is not being held accountable for their actions.

Oy vey! To Cody and Paul, the two fo you really need to stop this right now. This is not the place…Read More for this. Let this poor girl rest in peace.
@Paul, Cody is rught. His comment right before mine was that this wasn't the forum and he was ending the discussion. (I'm obviously not quoting him now). He removed his comments but I do remember that. So enough already, Paul. Drop it. It's quite enough.
Happy 4th of July to all of us! Remember that we fought for our independence to have freedom of religion.

My prayers and deepest sympathies go to the Ciolli family. I remember Russell and his wife Jennifer…Read More when their adorable daughter, Ava, went to the Little Gym of Merrick, with my girls. Russell was always so full of life and energy, smiling and friendly towards everyone. I recall him walking the balance beam after the kids had their turn and often showing off his own impressive gymnastic abilities. On several occasions he invited my family to his restaurant, Grimaldis in Garden City and although I always intended to stop in, regretfully, we never did. My heart breaks for his wife Jennifer and his two young children, Ava and Hunter. I hope they will find the strength to get through this very difficult time and will find comfort in their family and friends. His untimely passing is truly a tragic loss for his family as well as the community. His many successes and achievements will continue to live on as his lasting legacy.

Steve Jobs was one of the great visionaries of our time, and he was kept alive this long thanks to…Read More an organ transplant. It should serve as a reminder to fill out our donor cards. Who knows what people can accomplish in those extra years?

When I was about to buy my first computer, PCs had flickering letter and numbers. I didn't have a…Read More clue as to how I might work it. But the little Mac had a device to make the icons 'do' things. This I could understand. That was almost 25 years ago. I've been devoted to Mac products since --- iMac, iPad, iPhone. Steve Jobs was an incredible visionary who changed the way we work, the way we think and the way we interact with each other.

I'm a retired NYPD Captain and sometimes I had the pleasure of supervising great cops like Geof.…Read More Subsequent to my own induction into the NYPD Honor Legion, I met a lot more great guys - like Geof. I didn't have the opportunity to know Geof, but I knew many like him, i.e. I knew the type. Just couldn't stop serving and helping others via public, uniformed service. God bless his family; he'll be missed! Dukes2352@AOL.com
