Comedy Show Fundraiser, Bus Trip This Week

Comedy Show Fundraiser: Ed Kraus, Democratic candidate for the 13th legislative district, is holding a comedy show fundraiser at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. to help support his campaign. Tickets are $40. Meet The Author: Meet Jessica Alexandrakis, author of Quilting on the Go: English Paper Piecing Projects You Can Take Anywhere at the East Meadow Library Monday at 7:30 p.m. The author will explain how the simple technique can be used to create a wide range of quilts and accessories.

Bus Trip to Bay Street Theatre: Enjoy the musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum Wednesday at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor. The cost of the trip is $91, which includes ticket, transportation and gratuities. Lunch is on your own. Please note the East Meadow Library is allotting two tickets per family. Debate Club for Adults: Interested in discussing social and political concerns in a debate format? Join the Debate Club for Adults at the East Meadow Library Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Outdoor Movie: Nassau County will present "Parental Guidance" on the giant screen at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre Thursday at sunset (7:43 p.m.) The film is rated PG and is 105 minutes in length.

Family Fun Picnic and Fundraiser: Early Bird tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 23 for New Beginnings Family and Children’s Services' annual Family Fun Picnic and Fundraiser, to be held Sunday, Sept. 8 beginning at 2 p.m. at 170 Maple Ave. in East Meadow. (Following this date prices increase.)
