On Wednesday morning, temperatures hovered around seven degrees, with a wind chill index of minus 14. Highs on Wednesday are expected to reach 16 degrees and Wednesday night, expect a low of 5 degrees above zero with wind chill values as low as minus 8.

Thursday will dawn partly sunny with a slight chance of a snow shower after noon, according to the National Weather Service. The high on Thursday will only reach 21 degrees, with wind chills as low as minus 10.

Frosty temperatures will blanket all of Long Island and New York City equally, according to the NWS. "It's an equal opportunity air mass," Morrin said.
