Who's Who in East Meadow: John J. O'Brien

What do you do for a living? I have been the Fire District Supervisor for the Jericho Fire District for the past 32 years.

How are you involved with East Meadow? I have been resident since birth, grew up in the East Meadow school system, was in the class of 1976, joined the in 1976 and never looked back.

What’s the best thing about East Meadow? Lifetime friendships and great neighbors. It's still a small town where you know someone anywhere you go.

How did you end up in East Meadow? My family is original homeowners. We bought a newly constructed home on Fourth Street in the late 1950s.

What do you do for fun? Spend time with my family, enjoy hockey...if that's what we call it at the Coliseum. Oh yeah. Islander fan...Ugggghh.  I also enjoy volunteering with the greatest fire department on Long Island, which has the most unselfish men and women I have ever known who give each day in our community.

Tell me about your family. Do you have any children or grandchildren? I have been married 26 years. Teresa and I have three great kids — John Jr. (22), Jennifer (18) and Jimmy (16). I'm still young enough not to be a grandparent.

What are your favorite places in East Meadow? Get the Prime Rib and also the Calamari.
