Angela Ceballos of East Meadow spent four years in the Coast Guard and is married to a Marine.
On Monday, she was treated to a free makeover at Cactus Salon in Stony Brook through the nonprofit Shining Star Worldwide, which aims to help women get re-integrated into society after serving in the military.
She said the "much needed" makeover made her feel special.
"When you're a military spouse you kind of focus on the kids and husband more," Ceballos said. "You kind of sometimes forget about taking care of yourself."
