Operation Care & Comfort Drive Held for Troops

Local kids recently participated in the clothing and toiletries drive, which was held at the Levittown Old Navy.

Levittown Key Clubbers, Builders Clubbers and K-Kids from Kiwanis Service Leadership programs in local schools recently volunteered at the Levittown for the "Operation Care & Comfort" clothing and toiletries drive, held for active US soldiers.

This year, Operation Care & Comfort began with the Bowling Green K-Kids launching the collection drive on the evening of Friday, June 29. Approximately 45 clothing items and over $125 in cash donations was collected.

The Key Clubs of Division 6 continued the drive on Saturday, June 30. Key Clubbers from , GC Tech, Uniondale High School and supported the drive on one of Old Navy’s busiest days ($1 Flip Flop Day). Donations of more than 50 flip-flops in additional to other clothing items and $170 in cash was received.

The W.T. Clarke Builders Club finished the collection drive for our troops on Monday, July 2, collecting 40 clothing items and $110 in cash donations.

All cash donations were used to purchase additional clothing items for US troops at a discount provided by Old Navy.

This year’s Operation Care & Comfort was a tremendous success thanks to a great community partnership between Old Navy and the Kiwanis Family of Service Leadership Programs.
