NCC Celebrate Summer Blood Drive

Nassau Community College, along with Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), will be hosting its “Celebrate Summer” Blood Drive on May 22 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This 17th annual event will be in Building K at the school. All are invited to donate.

NCC is hoping to supply a large amount of blood for NUMC, as it is a major trauma center. The drive is part of a year long effort that includes six different blood drives at the college.

“The Memorial Day holiday begins the summer season, when traffic and other accidents typically create a high demand for blood and blood products,” said Dr. Arthur Friedman, Co-Chair of the NCC Blood Drive Task Force, in a press release. “Many blood donors are on vacation, which decreases the pool of available donors. Therefore, it’s especially important to have an ample supply on hand.”

To make an appointment, please call Dr. Friedman at (516) 572-7883. You can also stop by and donate blood throughout the day. Donors must be 17 years of age and in good health. Everyone should bring photo identification. Small snacks will be provided, but it is asked that everyone eats before donating.
