Eric Carannante of East Meadow was recently honored by the Town of Hempstead for winning the Eagle Scout Award. Carannante received scouting's highest honor in recognition of his Eagle Project in which he sent 527 care packages to troops overseas.
Carannante is a member of Troop 182 in Baldwin, but is an East Meadow resident.
He received support from the Calvary Lutheran Church, along with the Baldwin School District and from the Verizon Telecom Pioneers, who paid all of the shipping costs of the care packages.
