Two Jets Named to First Team All-State for Football

Billy Andrle and Giancarlo Carvalho acknowledged by New York State Sportswriters Association.

Two East Meadow Jets were named to the Class AA First Team All-State this week by the New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA).

Junior running back Billy Andrle and senior offensive lineman Giancarlo Carvalho were both acknowledged for their hard work during the season.

The Jets finished 6-2 during the regular season in 2012, but fell short in the quarterfinals against Massapequa.

Of the 25 players on the New York State Class AA First Team, just five were juniors, including Andrle.

The 5-foot-10, 210-pound running back put up scary rushing numbers in 2012. In the last two games of the regular season against Massapequa and Freeport, Andrle rushed for a combined 555 yards on 49 carries with eight touchdowns.

Paving the way for Andrle on the line was Carvalho. The 6-foot-2, 275-pound offensive lineman was a major reason for Andrle's big numbers this season.
