'Vets' Teams Have Strong Showing at Street Hockey Tourney

Teams from Veteran's Memorial Park in East Meadow gave it their all during the Town of Hempstead's annual street hockey tournament recently held at Seaman's Neck Park in Seaford.

The "Vets," comprised of kids from the towns of East Meadow, North Bellmore and North Merrick, had a strong finish in the tournament as the junior team captured first and the three senior teams were undefeated.

The street hockey team has many "veteran" players, including Kevin Montalti, who began playing at age six and just finished his "career" at age 13.

Close to 20 teams from various Town of Hempstead parks participated in Aug. 5-6 tournament.

Next week, coaches plan to hold a celebratory pizza party.
