PREVIEW: East Meadow vs. Freeport Football [VIDEO]

The Jets look for their first County title since 2006.

It's déjà vu all over again, as East Meadow (9-1) and Freeport (9-1) will clash in the Nassau County Championship for the first time since 2006.

In that game, it was the Jets who would prevail, but Freeport comes into this game with a victory over East Meadow already under its belt. The Jets will look to avenge their only loss of the year and rely on their power game to bring them to a championship victory.

In-game battles: Freeport's receivers against the Jets' secondary will be a good match-up to watch. Last week, Evan Lapice has touchdown receptions from two and 55-yards away, and he also returned an Oceanside fumble for a score. East Meadow also needs to contain Maurice Irby, who rushed for more than 200 yards in the first meeting. For East Meadow, while Robbie Healy is the player Freeport will key in on, the secondary backs will need to step up. David Zea, James D'Elia and Billy Andrle will need to keep Freeport off balance. After going two straight weeks without completing a pass, this could be the week Dylan Curry airs some passes out if East Meadow falls behind early.

Last Meeting: On Oct. 22, the Red Devils handed East Meadow its only loss of the year, 44-29. Isaiah Barns had more than 100 yards passing and rushing in the contest, and East Meadow turned the ball over several times. The Jets know that they will need to play mistake-free football to win the Nassau County Championship.

"They embarrassed us last time," Andrle said. "We are going to play better, and I am confident in our ability to win."
