Floyd Tops East Meadow in LI Title Showdown

The Jets came back from a 35-14 deficit to tie the game, but the comeback fell just short.

The Jets would not go quietly.

That was the theme Sunday as East Meadow came back from a 21-point deficit, but ultimately fell short against Floyd, 54-47.

The story of the game was Floyd's Stacey Bedell, who rushed for a Long Island Championship record 412 yards and added four touchdowns. For East Meadow, Robbie Healy ran for 176 yards, and Billy Andrle added 128 to go along with three touchdowns.

"It's going to hurt, because we've worked so hard for this," East Meadow Coach Vincent Mascia said. "But these boys should be really proud of themselves."

The Jets had the ball late in the fourth quarter, but with pressure on Dylan Curry, he floated a pass towards James D'Elia that was intercepted.

"I thought he was open and there was a guy in my face," Curry said. "I should've just thrown the ball away."
