Thirty girls dressed Wednesday for Farmingdale for a lacrosse playoff game against East Meadow. And all 30 girls played, as the Dalers ran over the visitors, 20-2 to advance to the next round of the Nassau County playoffs.
Jenna Borresen scored both goals for East Meadow.
In all, 12 players scored or contributed assists for the No.1 Farmingdale squad, led by Kim Kolodny with six goals and two assists. Five others scored two goals each, among them junior Sarah Tolson, who came off the bench to add to the total.
Also scoring two were Colleen Reynolds, Tara Wahl, Amanda Turturro and Bridget Weill. Jillian Alonso, Courtney McPartland, Chrissy Kelly and Brenna Weill had one goal each.
Farmingdale coach Shari Campbell said the team had goals beyond just defeating East Meadow, including sharpening their strategies, for the next round. "We had played them before, so we knew it was a game we could win," she said.
And coach Tracy Wiener aid that the girls "Are doing all we can ask of them."
East Meadow ends the year in eighth place, and 4-11 record.
Coach Colleen McMahon said of Wednesday's game, "We tried but we just had too many turnovers. We let them have the ball too many times and they capitalized on it."
