The W.T. Clarke High School girls field hockey team kept Port Washington scoreless in Tuesday's 5-0 win on the road.

Up 1-0 at the half, Clarke (1-0) took control of the game in the second half with four unanswered goals. Jessica Gibaldi led the scoring with two goals and one assist. Caileigh Berry, Bailey McNamara and Julia Cavaluzzi added to the win with one goal each; Brianna Ventola had one assist.

Clarke's Amanda Gargiulo had four saves on goal.

Disappointed Port Head Coach Joe Lederer said the team is behind a great deal on a lot of skills with a lot of work to do before its next game at New Hyde Park Thursday.

"The first half our defense was very solid and doing some good things for us but then they got down on themselves when they got down," said Lederer. "We're not where we wanted to be."

First half Schreiber goalie Vera Puglisi allowed just one goal before being replaced for the second half.
