Scott Sanders Awarded $1,000 Scholarship

Scott Sanders, a resident of East Meadow, was one of 20 students presented with a $1,000 scholarship during a special ceremony at the Hauppauge headquarters of Island Federal Credit Union.

Continuing its 20 year tradition, Island FCU awarded a total of $20,000 in scholarships to high school seniors looking to continue their education. The scholarship program is open to Long Island Senior who is or becomes a member, and has been accepted into a program of full-time undergraduate study as a freshman. Membership in Island FCU is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Nassau or Suffolk counties, with the exception of the townships of East Hampton, Southampton and Shelter Island.

Sears, President/CEO of Island Federal Credit Union. “Island realizes how important it is for our young people to get a good start on their futures, especially in these trying times, and this program helps make that possible.”

Since the inception of the Scholarship Program in 1992, Island FCU has given out more than a quarter-million dollars in awards to local high school seniors.
