Patch Question: Sensor Lights Outside of Schools

Would the problem alleviate some of the loitering problems the district has been dealing with?

One issue that has come up at recent civic and school board meetings is that students are loitering on school property after hours.

Bill Alderman, who is part of the East Meadow Citizens Patrol, a group of individuals that drive around and alert authorities if there's any wrongdoings, said that this problem exits in multiple schools throughout the district.

"There were some issues we had at , and some of the other schools," Alderman said. "I would like to see you look into is sensor lighting by the schools. I think it would be much safer, and people who are not supposed to be there may be scared away."

Superintendent Lou DeAngelo did not dismiss Alderman's suggestion, and he said that the Board of Education is looking into different safety options.

"We are actually looking into that as well as other security measures for our buildings," DeAngelo said.
