Parkway Students Spend a Day With The StoryCrafters

The StoryCrafters perform and teach in schools, libraries, and other venues all over the US and the British Isles.

Students at Parkway Elementary School recently spent a day with The StoryCrafters, enjoying interactive presentations of magical tales, according to the East Meadow School District website.

The StoryCrafters consist of Dr. Jeri Burns and Barry Marshall, who perform and teach in schools, libraries and other venues all over the US and the British Isles. They have been featured performers at national and international storytelling and folk festivals.

The StoryCrafters delighted the students with Diane Wolkstein’s Haitian folktale of “Tipingee”, while comparing it to the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella.”

During this special presentation, the students were also exposed to tools of language, gesture, expression and tonality, as ways to express themselves when creating their own stories.
