Hannon Recognizes Clarke Students

Several students from the East Meadow/Westbury area were named winners in Senator Kemp Hannon’s “Best in Town” Photo Contest. 

Students from throughout the district submitted photographs reflecting how they view their town.  The photographs were split into the following categories: Best In Show, Buildings and Landmarks, Parks and Recreation, Suburban Life and Families, High School Life and Activities and Nature and Pets.

The winners from were as follows:

• Best In Show – Erika Barello (First Place), Jackie Rosenking (First Place)
• Buildings and Landmarks – Christopher Abanavas (First Place), Brian Green (Second Place), Alyssa Pekunka (Honorable Mention)
• Parks and Recreation – Niyati Sangani (First Place), Jennifer Neidle (Second Place)
• Suburban Life and Families - Jackie Rosenking (First Place); Merium Syed (Second Place), Amanda Alborano (Honorable Mention), Bridget Downes (Honorable Mention) 
• High School Life and Activities – Merium Syed (First Place), Erika Barello (Second Place); Nature – Jackie Rosenking (First Place), Tom Collado (Second Place), Daniela Cano (Honorable Mention), Kathryna Gonzalez (Honorable Mention)
• Pets – Erika Barello (First Place), Amanda Alborano (Second Place), Nicole Caprio (Honorable Mention).

The photographs were judged by a former Newsday photojournalist with 30 years experience in the field.  Congratulations to all these students for their winning photographs.
