NUMC LI Surgical Weight Reduction Center Hosts Free Monthly Seminars

Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) Long Island Surgical Weight Reduction Center offers free educational seminars every second Wednesday each month from 5 to 7 p.m. in Room 867 on the 8th floor. The seminars are presented by NUMC's bariatric team, consisting of L.D. George Angus, MD, Venkatesh Sasthakonar, MD and Nelka Ellis, RN.

Topics to be discussed during the seminars include:

• Various types of surgeries
• Who is a candidate for bariatric surgery?
• Pre-operative and Post-operative
• Benefits and risks of surgery
• Most types of insurance accepted

The LI Surgical Weight Reduction Cenbter offers surgery for those who are severely overweight or those with medical conditions that have worsened with increasing weight. The center has put together a team of highly trained surgeons, nutritionists, internists, psychiatrists, plastic surgeons and technicians to supply complete and individualized service to patients in a private setting.
