Let's Talk About It: "Noon Wine" by Katherine Anne Porter

We at the East Meadow Public Library are pleased to have received two grants from the American Library Association (ALA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Through the efforts of the Children's Department we have the "Picturing America" series. This is a collection of beautifully printed posters featuring iconic American Art through various times, forms, genres and media. It is on permanent public display downstairs in the Community Room Lobby for all to enjoy.

We are now fortunate to be able to use "Picturing America" in a series of book discussions made possible by another ALA/NEH Grant called "Let's Talk About It: Land of Opportunity." The five book discussions will be led by scholars Dr. Marion Wrenn of Princeton University and Barbara Applegate, Executive Director of the Hillwood Art Museum of CW Post. The focus of this series is our identification as Americans to places, people, landmarks and events that shape our lives as individuals and  as citizens. The conversations will surely be lively and enlightening. We urge you all to take part. Books will be available outside of the Public Relations Office. Some programs will also include feature films if available and relevant. Refreshments will be served.
