The Press Club of Long Island (PCLI) sponsors a free program, funded by a grant from the Society of Professional Journalists, entitled "How to Be a Smart News Consumer in the Digital Age" at the Hofstra University Student Center Theater and Multi-Purpose Room. The event will take place on Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Panelists will include News 12 Long Island anchor Doug Geed, Newsday columnist Joye Brown and Hofstra Assistant Professor Paul Mihailidis. The moderator will be Evan W. Cornog, Hofstra School of Communication's Dean.
Activities will include news-gathering and news-judgment simulation, a panel discussion on media literacy and a buffet dinner. The dinner will precede the program; visit www.pcli.org for more information. Pre-registration for the program is required and can also be done on the website.
