East Meadow School District Summer Maintenance Report

A report from Patrick Pizzo, director of facilities and operations in the district.

During the month of August, 50 work orders were submitted to the facilities department, and 63 work orders were completed district-wide.

The maintenance department repaired exterior lights throughout the district and installed electrical lined to accommodate new Smart Boards in all schools.

  • Repair of corridor wall tiles is in progress in several locations throughout the building.
  • Maintainers rebuilt and repaired several sections of outdoor sprinkler systems.
  • Reconstruction of outside overhangs has continued in several locations.

  • Electrical and plumbing repairs were completed in classrooms and corridors.
  • Carpenters and masons completed repairs in various locations throughout the building.

  • Carpenters constructed shelf storage and repaired doors in several locations.

  • Painting of trim (door frames, windows and shelves) has continued.
  • Painting of the kitchen and nurse's office is complete.
  • Painting of the walls and trim in the gymnasium and ceiling, walls and trim in the all purpose room is complete.
  • Carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs were completed in several locations.

  • Electrical lines were run in classrooms to accommodate IEP requirements.
  • Electrical and masonry repairs were completed for the sports tower.
  • Contractors replaced a large area of the parking lot under the 2010-11 capital improvement program.
