Lauren Meade was afforded the opportunity as part of the University of Delaware's study abroad nursing program.

Lauren Meade of East Meadow, a University of Delaware senior in the School of Nursing, explored the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia as part of the university's study abroad nursing program.

The service transports patients from remote areas of Australia to places where they can receive adequate healthcare.

"The nurses who work here are so passionate and inspiring," Meade said. "Such an incredible experience seeing what they do for others!"

During this winter session, more than 1,000 UD students will travel to 24 different countries as part of 50 different international and domestic programs spanning 39 academic subjects, according to University of Delaware officials.
