A fourth grade teacher from East Meadow has been nominated for the <a href="http://www.kjoy.com/teacher-of-the-month.aspx" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">KJOY Teacher of the Month</a>. AnnaMaria Izzo-Barbieri of Parkway Elementary School, is up against five teachers to be named April's best educator. The person who receives the award will win $250 cash and $250 worth of Pilot Pens. Michael G. Zapson has become Chairman of the Long Island Chapter of the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV). NYLCV is the only statewide environmental organization in New York that advocates for clean water, clean air, renewable energy, and open space through political action.
 Zapson, a partner at the law office of Certilman Balin Adler &amp; Hyman, LLP, is a former Long Beach City Councilman for 10 years and Nassau County Legislator. Zapson is known for his environmental accomplishments including the closing of the incinerator in Long Beach when he was City Council President.
 The LCV is a non-partisan, pragmatic, and effective organization that gets involved in elections where it can make a difference. Recently the LCV Victory Fund invested $350,000 in ground support for Tom Suozzi&rsquo;s Special Election win in New York&rsquo;s Third Congressional District.
 Zapson&rsquo;s work as an environmental advocate includes cleaning the Bays in Nassau County. He was an early advocate for the Bay Park Conveyance Project which will improve water quality and storm resiliency by ending the flow of treated sewer effluent into Reynolds Channel. As early as 2013, Zapson and the LVC were working to stop the flow of sewer effluent into the bay.
