Danenza, Fanelli to Run Unopposed for School Board

The Monday deadline passed without any candidates contesting the incumbents.

It looks like the East Meadow Board of Education will remain intact for the 2011-12 school year.

According to published reports, Trustees Joseph Danenza and Corey Fanelli will run unopposed in the May election for new three-year terms. Both men won elections last May. The deadline for candidates to appear on the ballot was Monday at 5 p.m.

Both Danenza and Fanelli's current terms expire on June 30.

In order to challenge for a position on the school board, potential candidates would had to be nominated by petition, with at least 80 signatures of members from the voting district, according to reports. These needed to be submitted to East Meadow District Clerk Joan Franciotti, but none were received.

The school budget vote and board of education trustee election will take place on May 17. To register to vote, click here.
