Clarke Creepy Carnival Raises $1,000 for KPTC

It was a fright for a good cause at Bowling Green.

The W.T. Clarke Key Club held its annual Halloween Carnival at on Oct. 26.

Under the leadership of President Gina Principato and faculty advisor Robert Van Auken, key club members transformed Bowling Green’s all purpose room into a creepy carnival. The carnival games, activity tables, food table and prize shop were staffed by over 40 key club members.

As the costumed elementary school students, including many members of the Bowling Green K-Kids filled the all purpose room, the key clubbers sprang into action ensuring their guests had tons of fun and won many prizes. The elementary school students milled around, stood in line for games including balloon shaving, mummy wrapping, pennies in rice, enjoyed face painting and devoured platefuls of sweets in true Halloween fashion.

The children’s costumes were incredibly creative and creepy. The best of the bunch won awards in the costume contest with costumes such as a vampire, a wash basket, a package of Starburst candies, a zombie prom queen and a bloody dinner table.

In the last minutes of the carnival, the kids all swarmed to the prize table to exchange their tickets for prizes ranging from light up bracelets to Halloween-themed pencils. Though the carnival only lasted for an hour and fifteen minutes, it was clear that everyone – the elementary school children, the key Clubbers and adults had a great time.

The Halloween Carnival was incredibly successful due to the efforts of many people. This event not only provided a fun time for all but also raised approximately $1,000 for the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at North Shore-LIJ.
