Bowling Green K-Kids Present First Harlie Treanor Memorial Awards

The award was created to honor Treanor's memory and community service.

The Bowling Green K-Kids and the East Meadow Kiwanis Club recently presented its first Harlie Treanor Memorial Award to honor her memory and community service.

Treanor, a former Bowling Green K-Kid, died when the boat she was on capsized in Oyster Bay in July 2012.

The criteria used to select a recipient include active involvement in community service, kindness and compassion for others, dedication to protecting the planet and a love for its creatures.

Preference is given to candidates who are active members of the Bowling Green K-Kids.

The first awards were presented to Danielle Hallett and Kira Gruber at Bowling Green Elementary School’s Moving-Up Ceremony in June.
