Former Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi wants his old job back.

Suozzi, who served as Nassau County Executive from 2002-2010, announced Wednesday morning on his new campaign website that he will once again run for Nassau’s top post. Suozzi ran for a third term in 2009 but lost a close election to current Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.

The former mayor of Glen Cove also ran for New York Governor in 2006 but lost a Democratic primary to Eliot Spitzer. Suozzi, 50, in his statement pledged to restore fiscal stability, end “irresponsible borrowing and skyrocketing debt,” create jobs and reduce crime in Nassau.

Suozzi will officially announce his candidacy at a noon press conference with Nassau County Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs in Mineola.

Suozzi also released a video on his website that discusses his plan to make Nassau County an “ideal suburb.”

Suozzi will face off in a Democratic primary this September for the right to face Mangano this November, most likely against Democrat Adam Haber, a Roslyn school board member. North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman has also established a campaign committee to explore a run for Nassau County executive. Nassau County Legis. Dave Denenberg, D-Merrick, has said he would run for county executive if Suozzi did not.

Suozzi gave me a 130% increasing in County taxes. The Long Beach Democratic City Council is giving me at least a 120% increase in City taxes. I suppose the only votes these mutts will get are the 47% on welfare, food stamps and Section 8.

suozzi win would be a disgrace for nassau county residents! suozzi-nomics will ban the middle class from nassau county. tax and spend has been the democrats evil way in the past...what makes you think they have changed? suozzi only using his power for political gain... he could care less for county residents. he always has been seeking higher office...(remember his bid for governor) we the people are not stupid tom!!!! this is just a step in his career. a vote for suozzi is a vote for another middle class family to be forced from living on long island!

For the people who chose to stay in NY and LI. The re tread of Tom Suozzi running again for county exec only proves that this state is being run by elites and party bosses. The fact that Suozzi has name recognition and a democrat is aimed at the low information voters that will show up ignore the issues and vote democrat. It's time for the people who really care about their community and country stand up and ensure a Tom Suozzi defeat. This county has many problems mush to the credit of Tom Suozzi.
