The following is a look back at some of the top stories in Nassau County over the past week:

Mangano Reduces County Workforce

On Monday, County Executive Ed Mangano announced that he was reducing the county workforce by an additional 184 workers. The plan includes laying off 130 employees and another 54 having taken advantage of the county's Voluntary Separation Incentive Program. Mangano says this will save the county $32 million per year beginning in 2011.

The county executive maintains that the workforce reduction is a necessary step to keep Nassau's finances in check.
