McCarthy Nominates Christopher Whitenack to Military Service Academy

The EMHS student will head to the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-Mineola, has announced her office’s appointees to various U.S. military service academies, like the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in Nassau County and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Ten teen nominees from Rep. McCarthy’s district, including one from East Meadow, were appointed after a rigorous application and interview process looking at various factors like academic performance and extra-curricular activities.

“These young men and women, along with our current forces serving around the globe, are our next Greatest Generation – smart, patriotic, brave, and selfless,” Rep. McCarthy said.  “Their examples bring confidence that our nation is in good hands for the future.”
