Cynthia Iacopella was named as the permanent director of the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter at Tuesday's town board meeting.

According to Newsday [paid link], Iacopella scored No. 1 on the town’s Civil Service Commission exam for the position with a score of 95 percent.

Iacopella will be paid $103,750 annually as the director, town spokesman Michael Deery told Newsday.

Iacopella, of Huntington Station, was first hired as assistant director of the shelter in July 2011. She was later appointed as provisional shelter director, after she completed her bachelor’s degree in August. The town requires the shelter director to have a bachelor’s degree; she already holds two associate degrees.

John, the facts speak for themselves. People vote the party and not the best candidate. Think how much better the TOH would be without all the corruption and patronage. Think how much of out tax money would be saved without the constant self-praising mailings. And I am bnot a Democrat.

The following article is fact based, the facts come from the Town itself ( http://malverne-lynbrook.patch.com/blog_posts/hempstead-town-clerk-mark-bonilla-budgets-600k-in-payments-from-hempstead-animal-shelter-in-2011) How could you say this shelter is well run?

How do they get away with not responding to FOIL requests?
Felix Procacci August 13, 2012 at 03:13 PM
FOIL must be enforced by the person who has been denied by filing an Article 78 pettion to the courts

To: John Carway and anyone else defending the TOH. It's pretty easy to run a govt. when you have no responsibility for police and most of the other traditional and expensive functions of government. They collect a huge amount of tax money considering the services that they provide. The system is rigged to make the county ungovernable, and the TOH look good in comparison. BTW - The finances of the animal shelter are a disgrace, and indefensible to any reasonable person.
