Shed the Meds

Senator Kemp Hannon, along with the Nassau County Police Department, is urgin all local residents to participate in the "Shed the Meds" program to safely discard unused or expired medications. The program will take place on Mar. 25 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farmingdale Library, which is located at 116 Merritts Road. Participants will have a chance to drive up to the drop off station and discard of their medications without even leaving their cars.

It is important to dispose of these medications properly because flushing them down the toilet or pouring them in the drain can pollute waterways and the drinking water. The last program collected 30 gallon bags worth of drugs.

For additional information, please call Sen. Hannon's office at 516-739-1700 or visit KempHannon.com.
