Mangano To Host "Celebration of Hope and Change" Ceremony

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano will host a "Celebration of Hope and Change" ceremony on Jan. 27 in recognition of Black History Month. The celebration will be held at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Ave, Mineola, in the Ceremonial Chamber on the 2nd floor.

The following six members of Nassau's African American community will be honored:

  • Bob Carter, President of the Friends of the African American Museum Organization
  • Jim Garner, Former Mayor of the Village of Hempstead
  •  George Jones, Retired Brigadier General and author of “Character of Leadership”
  • Emily Moore, Founder/Executive Director of the Alliance Junior Tennis Development Program, Inc., and teacher in the Roosevelt Union Free School District
  • Robert Olden, Former Deputy County Executive for Nassau County and Roosevelt community activist
  • Terenna Williams, CEO of Glory House Recovery, Inc.
