Name: Tom McKevitt

Hometown: East Meadow

Bio: McKevitt was first elected to the Assembly in a special election in February 2006, to succeed Maureen O’Connell who became Nassau County Clerk. He was re-elected in November 2006 and November 2008. He is a member of the American and New York State Bar Associations, is a past chair of the Municipal Law Committee and a member of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. He has been asked to deliver numerous lectures on land use and zoning enforcement throughout the state. He is a member of the East Meadow Kiwanis Club and the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce, as well as a  mentor to students at the Woodland Middle School and coach of the Holy Trinity Diocesan High School Mock Trial Team. He is the recipient of the George Estabrook Award for service as a distinguished alumnus of Hofstra University.

Education: McKevitt received a Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University and a Juris Doctor from Hofstra Law School.

District: The new 17th Assembly District includes East Meadow, Levittown, Farmingdale, Plainedge, Bethpage, North Massapequa, Uniondale and portions of North Bellmore and North Merrick..
