UPDATE: Motorcycle Driver Remains in Critical, But Stable Condition at NUMC

The woman is in critical condition at NUMC.

A woman was injured in a motorcycle accident that happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening on North Jerusalem Road near Bruce Drive in East Meadow.

As of 9 a.m. Friday, the woman remains in "critical, but stable condition" in intensive care unit, according to Shelley Lotenberg, director of public affairs at NUMC.

According to one witness, who chose not to be identified, the woman was cut off by a school bus while traveling westbound on North Jerusalem Road. She then crashed her motorcycle into a parked Nissan Xterra and was catapulted onto the pavement.

"It didn't look good," the witness said.

Emily Wood, 22, was sitting in her car when she heard a loud noise, and she looked outside to see the motorcycle on the ground and the woman bleeding from her head.

"I called 911," Wood said. "When they arrived, they said she had lost her pulse, but she eventually got it back."

Police shut down North Jerusalem Road between Bruce Drive and Cynthia Drive to contain the scene, and the police are encouraging motorists to use alternative routes.
