Woman Arrested for DWI on Meadowbrook Parkway

An Oceanside woman was arrested Wednesday after police noticed her driving erratically on the Meadowbrook Parkway near Hempstead Turnpike, officials said.

According to New York State Police, Nicole Maher, 23, was pulled over at approximately 12:40 a.m. While heading southbound on the Meadowbrook Parkway, police say Maher was guilty of a number of traffic violations, including 'failing to maintain lane, unsafe lane change, failing to signal, following too closely and driving over hazardous markings."

After being pulled over, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Maher's vehicle. After failing sobriety tests, Maher was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Maher will be arraigned in first district court in Hempstead.
