Woman Arrested For Car Being Used in East Meadow Robbery

Arlene Abreu, 34, allegedly allowed a car that she rented to be used during a robbery at TD Bank on Jan. 27 and misled police about who was in possession of the vehicle.

A Central Islip woman was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly allowing a car she rented to be used in an East Meadow bank robbery that occurred in January, police said.

According to authorities, Arlene Abreu, 34, rented a blue Chevy Cruz from Hertz Rent-A-Car in Patchogue on Jan. 23 and allowed the vehicle to be used during a robbery that occurred at TD Bank in East Meadow on Jan. 27.

An investigation determined that Abreu deliberately misled authorities about who was in possession of the vehicle.

Abreu was charged with second-degree hindering prosecution and fourth-degree criminal facilitation.
