Virginia State Police say that Robert Cerny was wearing a seatbelt when he was on Interstate 95 in Virginia on Feb. 10.

According to police, Cerny, 67, and a resident of East Meadow, was traveling northbound on I-95 when the 2010 Isuzu he was driving ran off the road and struck a tree just south of Route 642 in Sussex County.

Cerny was extracted from the vehicle and was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg where he later died from his injuries, according to officials.
